Kay Flaminio, Director of Development
Kay Flaminio joined the staff in November 2006 and directs the group's fundraising program.
Kay joined Equality North Carolina as its first full-time development
director to do her part for our great movement. She has been a fundraiser for twenty-six years and has worked
with a number of nonprofits on a spectrum of issues including
reproductive rights, STD prevention, mental health, and animal rights.
Her specialty is individual giving with a focus on leadership gifts,
and she has extensive experience in corporate and foundation relations;
special events; communications; financial management;
and strategic planning.
Kay is from upstate New York and moved to North Carolina in 1990. She lives in a restored 1928 bungalow in Durham and is an avowed Durhamite. She reads compulsively--mostly histories of the South--collects antiques, travels, and helps homeless cats in Durham. She currently maintains a small feral cat colony in her neighborhood.
