2011 Equality Conference & Gala
Join us Saturday, November 12, 2011, in Greensboro for Equality NC Foundation's fifth annual Equality Conference & Gala! Our signature annual event brings hundreds of people together from across the state for a full day of advocacy training followed by our evening celebration of all we've accomplished together. For the third year in a row, the conference will take place at the Elliott University Center on the beautiful campus of UNC Greensboro, and the gala will take place at the Empire Room in downtown Greensboro.

More About the Equality Conference & Gala
The Equality Conference is designed to foster activism and leadership within the LGBT rights movement in North Carolina, and we keep admission fees as low as possible to encourage maximum attendance from every part of the LGBT and allied community. Attendees start the day with our annual State of Equality Report, attend their choice of hands-on workshops covering a variety of topics, come together for a caucusing lunch, learn more about our sponsors through their exhibits, and wind up the day with our keynote speaker. Last year's audiences were treated to a rousing address from Houston Mayor Annise Parker, the first open lesbian to lead a major American city.
The Equality Gala is Equality NC Foundation's annual fundraiser and
our opportunity to celebrate our collective work with LGBT and allied supporters
across the state. We also present our annual leadership award to our
legislative champion of the year and we introduce our
Equality Champion Awards recipients to recognize individual achievements in
five regions across the state. Last year, we presented our 2010
Legislative Leadership Award to North Carolina House Speaker Joe Hackney
and our first Equality Champion Awards to Roberta Dunn for the
Charlotte region, Ellen W. Gerber for the Triad region, Reverend Joe
Hoffman and Noel Nickle for the western region, Aaron Lucier for the
eastern region, and Joshua Lee Weaver for the Triangle region.
