Where: Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 4907 Garrett Road, Durham, NC 27707
As Washington D.C.'s marriage equality law takes effect, some are wondering what is
happening in North Carolina?
Interweave at Eno River Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (ERUUF) in Durham, an action team for LGBTQQ and allies, is hosting a free workshop on April 17th on the legal realities today for the LGBTQQ community.
Interweave is a membership organization affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association focusing on issues that affect the LGBTQQ community. Interweave at ERUUF was formed as a vehicle to deepen our faith and ourselves and to realize a more welcoming, inclusive, empowering, and just world for all. Interweave is an action-oriented group focused on bringing justice and equality, in harmony with our faith and mission, to the Triangle area and beyond.
Interweave’s inaugural event for ERUUF and the public is a workshop on April
17th from 9:30 – 1 pm. The program starts at 10 a.m., with the first half hour for coffee and check-in.
At 10:00, Equality NC will give their advocacy presentation called, “State of Equality.” It will give an overview of the legislative situation here in North Carolina for the LGBTQQ community.
At 11:00, Alyscia Ellis, family law attorney, will give a presentation about buying property, cohabitation agreements, wills, medical and general powers of attorney, and second parent adoption.
After the presentations, there will be light refreshments in the Fellowship Hall.
