Bill Summary

This bill would protect state employees from discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. It amends the State Personnel Act by adding those categories to the list of protected classes for discrimination in hiring; denial of promotion, transfer or training; retaliatory demotion, reduction in force or termination; and harassment. In addition, it would require local school boards to adopt policies banning discrimination for school personnel on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or disability
