Governor Easley Signs Off On AIDS Awareness License Plates

9/1/2007 - On Thursday Governor Mike Easley signed Senate Bill 103, authorizing the creation of several specialty license plates, including a new AIDS Awareness plate featuring a red ribbon design and the words "Find a Cure." The extra fee for the plates will be given to the Alliance of AIDS Services - Carolina.

"We applaud AAS-C's leadership on HIV/AIDS advocacy and education, and in securing passage of this bill," said Ian Palmquist, Equality NC's Executive Director. "The new license plates are one more tool for keeping the fight to end AIDS at the forefront in our state."

Equality NC and AAS-C work together through the North Carolina AIDS Action Network to advocate for better public policy on HIV/AIDS issues.
