Registration Open for 2007 Equality Conference & Gala
9/14/2007 - Equality NC Foundation today opened registration for its first-ever statewide conference and gala. The event will held Saturday, November 3 in Durham and will feature nationally recognized speakers as well LGBT and allied leaders from within North Carolina. Join us for a day of education and action followed by an evening of celebration!
Daytime Conference
The Equality Conference, held at the Duke University School of Law, will bring together leaders and grassroots advocates from across the state for a day of networking, skills-building, and learning with amazing speakers and panelists.
Alabama Rep. Patricia Todd will share the remarkable story of becoming the first openly gay elected official in her conservative state. Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) President Neil Giuliano will provide a national perspective on our movement and the media. Several of our legislative allies will share their experiences as advocates for equal rights in North Carolina
The conference will also feature great workshops on everything from legal and health policy issues to creating change in our workplaces, campuses and communities. You won't want to miss it.
Evening Gala Reception
The Equality Gala will be a fabulous celebration of our community, our allies and our fight for equality, held at the spectacular Nasher Museum of Art on the Duke campus.
This champagne reception will feature the presentation of our first Equality North Carolina Award for Legislative Leadership to Representative Rick Glazier, the champion of the School Violence Prevention Act and a strong advocate for equal rights and justice. The award will be presented by North Carolina House Speaker Joe Hackney.
