Worth A Thousand Words ...
3/16/2010 - Whether to educate the public, celebrate a union, or help tell stories of LGBT folks, pictures are an important tool at Equality NC. Take a look at how we're using them to work for fairness and equality for LGBT North Carolinians.
Our most recent photo initiative is the Picturing Equality project. We're collecting images from our supporters and allies with signs saying "I Want ..." (or "We Want ...") and listing some aspect of equality currently denied to LGBT individuals and their families and friends. Here's a sampling:

We're collecting pictures throughout the year. We'll display them at our Day of Action, May 25, and our 2010 Equality Conference & Gala in November. We'd love your help with this, and it's easy to get involved - click here to find out how.
Speaking of the Day of Action, check out a selection of photos from our 2007 event.
Talking to your legislator is the single most-effective way to address homophobia and put a human face on LGBT issues. You'll receive training and be grouped with other people from your area, so you'll neither be alone nor unprepared.
The Equality Conference is our signature educational event, as the Equality Gala is our major fundraiser that helps fund our work for LGBT equality. We have an extensive gallery of pictures from our fabulous 2009 celebrations.
Additionally, we have a Flickr gallery of pictures that Gala attendees took using disposable cameras on their tables. It was a beautiful evening of beautiful people working together for a beautiful cause.
Finally, we're trying to spread the word about our Equality Marriage Registry. We invite all couples - gay, straight, partnered, married, committed, etc. - to celebrate their union and remind their loved ones that not all couples have access to the legal rights and responsibilities of marriage in our state.
Become part of this important project here.
Here're a few of the happy couples helping us work towards fairness for all couples:

Pictures can convey a lot of information and feeling in a tiny space. In addition to these, look at the other galleries we have online, whether it be we and our supporters at Pride, photos from a fundraising luau in Pinehurst, or something else entirely.
Sometimes you can make much more of a difference by showing instead of telling. Take a look for yourself, and see the change you want to be in the world.
